We are located 15 miles south of Stuttgart in the Lodges Corner area. We have a lodge that sleeps 14. 5 private bedrooms with baths. This is one of if not the best areas in the state for mallard habitat and winter concentrations of ducks. We hunt on family owned property that we farm and manage for ducks on a year-round basis.
Duck hunting is about more than just ducks. It’s about a hearty breakfast after a cold morning in the woods. It’s about a good afternoon nap in a quiet room. It’s about good friends telling stories around a fire pit…some of them true. It’s about a dinner so good you talk about it until you come back again next year. If you want more out of your next duck hunting trip you need to stay at the CrossHeirs Retreat Center.

Two anterior cruciate ligament surgeries may have slowed him down briefly, but they never sidelined him for good. Right now, age hasn’t done that either, but we know it’s a matter of time. It’s that way for any athlete past his prime. Consider Woodrow one of those: a great athlete.
Food isn’t a duck’s only attraction to rice. Flooded rice fields serve as surrogate wetlands on a landscape that has lost the vast majority of its natural wetland habitat, providing a place for ducks to rest and conserve energy in addition to myriad other life-cycle needs.
Chris Akin and his trained Lab Boomer traveled together, hunted together, competed together and just plain spent time together. Boomer passed away in the spring of 2012, leaving a legacy that would be hard for any dog to duplicate and a place in Akin’s heart forever.
Most duck hunters are all about bagging their daily limits, but the real bonus comes when one is fortunate enough to harvest a duck wearing jewelry, a metal band used to track migratory habits.
The waterfowler’s ultimate prize comes in the form of a stamped piece of aluminum affixed to a duck’s leg. In monetary value, the band itself may cost a few pennies but in the duck hunter’s world, it is invaluable. Last January it truly was a kid, 9-year-old Carter Cochran, who enjoyed that experience.
