Number of days you hunt a season?
Ten-12.

Where do you hunt?
Bayou Meto, Stuttgart area.

What kind of gun do you use?
Remington 11-87 semiautomatic — first gun I had as a kid and can’t give it up.

Duck call?
My little brother Jack takes care of that!

Fields, reservoir or timber?
Love watching sun come up over a rice field, great memories hunting in reservoirs, but nothing beats ducks falling into the timber.

Rainy, nasty or bluebird sky?
Bluebird is fine by me.

Favorite hunting story/memory?
I’ve been on incredible hunts when limits have been killed in minutes and plenty where we never fired a shot. If I had to pick, my favorite hunting memory was when my dad let my brother Jack and I hunt by ourselves for the first time. I’ll never forget — Jacobs Lake, No. 7 blind — a beautiful, tall blind built into the cypress trees. Jack and I had just sat down and before we could even get unpacked, ducks started pouring into the hole. I’ll never forget the sounds as they flew over the blind — the wind whistling through their wings. We looked at each other in amazement — didn’t even try to reach for our guns — just listened and watched. I’ve been hooked ever since.

What got you into hunting?
My dad, Frank, and grandfather, Sam Rowland, introduced me to duck hunting as a kid. I loved spending time with them in the woods listening to them tell stories about past hunts. But what I loved the most was watching their every move as ducks worked the hole — watching their eyes as they called, watching them reach for their guns, and finally hearing them call out “take ’em!” An exhilarating feeling I’ll never forget.

If you have children do you take them duck hunting?
If so what are some of the highlights from these youth hunts?

I have two little girls, Cate and Charley, who definitely like to practice on their duck calls, and I look forward to getting them out in the woods soon.

What is your most unusual “must have” in the duck blind?
Gotta have Peanut M&Ms!

Which Arkansas executive calls ducks the best?
My good friend Tommy Drew has the most unique call that will definitely get a duck’s attention every time.
