Favorite hunting story/memory?
In 2000 we were standing in the Buckbrush at Button Willow watching wave after wave of ducks land in the hole around us. It went on and on for about an hour. There were so many we took turns shooting and got a limit in about five minutes. Beautiful sight to see!
What got you into hunting?
When I started dating my now wife Mitzi — her father Joel Ledbetter, Jr. is a big hunter — he started taking me, and now I love it.
If you have children do you take them duck hunting?
If so what are some of the highlights from these youth hunts?
I have two boys; Lawson 16, Fortner 13, both of them go hunting with me. Biggest highlight was watching them kill their first mallard drake and watching my oldest kill his first banded duck last year.
What is your most unusual “must have” in the duck blind?
Remote control heated foot warmers.
