About Elms Lodge
The Elms Lodge in Altheimer, Arkansas, is where you can find 151 years of rural roots tradition mixing hunting, history and hospitality all together in one place. From the moment guests arrive at the circa 1866 mansion set among boundless acres of farmland, lakes and pecan groves, they’re met with the utmost welcome.
The driving force behind the Elms long term success is owner/proprietor Kim Vassaur Freeman. Her heart-felt passion for the farm, lodge and wildlife she manages on her properties, insures a sustainable, healthy balance where waterfowl have migratory resting places and feeding habitat while providing recreational opportunities for the sportsman.
Most Rewarding
With a dozen distinctively different lodges to choose from, we offer overnight as well as all-season lodge leases for individuals or corporate customers.
Why We Are The Best
Kim says, “The Elms is unique in how we tailor our offerings to fit the hunter’s individual needs. Besides daily-guided hunts, we have self-guided, season long leases on flooded-fields. Nestled in the very heart of the flyway, you can set back and call to birds in flight.”
Typical Day
Arriving guest are greeted with specialty cheese and wine tasting before a gourmet dinner in the plantation house. Afterwards clients may stroll about the lake or simply enjoy good conversation with fellow hunters around the fire. Following a good night’s rest, it’s up before dawn for a short ATV ride to surrounding hunting grounds. After the hunt, a hardy breakfast at J.L.’s Country Cafe is customary. Between hunts guests can watch the horses graze, fish in the lake or hike the surrounding nature trails.
