Favorite duck hunting story/memory? I was on a hunt at the Sanford farm in Winchester when three ducks pitched in. As they landed they all split; one left, one right and one straight down, as if it were placed for the three hunters. All three were killed — one by each of us, (Al Sanford, Greg Smart) mine being double banded. I phoned my lifelong best friend, Kevin Castleberry, to share the news, and he informed me I had awakened him and his first son, who had arrived a couple of hours before.
What got you into hunting? My dad for sure. The friendships and relationships that I have developed and get to share with guys like the Burnetts and Finleys, as well as several others is what continues it.
What is your most unusual “must have” in the duck blind? White icing honeybun and orange Banded gloves
Where is your go-to spot for breakfast/meals on a hunting weekend? Mrs. Theressa’s weekend breakfast at Halo Farms and Kibbs BBQ
If you have children, do you take them duck hunting? If so, what are some of the highlights from these youth hunts? I have two boys who enjoy the sport. Both are fortunate to have been a part of several great hunts and continue to grow their passion for the sport as well. Noah’s (16) first duck was a Mallard Drake at Halo Farms. Sawyer’s (13) first duck was a Mallard Drake at Miracle Mallard.
