It’s on! Parents and young hunters get ready. The Cache River National Wildlife Refuge is now taking applications for the Youth Only Waterfowl Hunt:
Hunters, age 15 and younger, may apply for permits to occupy one of five designated blinds. Hunters with permits will be allowed to hunt waterfowl on drawn weekend dates of the regular duck season.
You know the drill: Permitted hunters will be allowed to invite one youth, 15 or younger, as a guest. At least one adult, at least 21 years old, must supervise, and the adult can’t hunt. Volunteer mentors are available.
To apply:
Submit a 3×5 index card with the full name (first, middle, last), mailing address and telephone number of the youth hunter. The drawing will take place Oct. 18. Be sure the entry is mailed early so it is received before Oct. 15. Duplicate, unclear or incomplete entries will not be accepted.
