“The Standard Sportsman” podcast is going live during the Ducks Unlimited Expo this weekend in Memphis. Hosts Cason Short and Brent Birch (also the editor of Greenhead magazine) will record an episode of the show together live from the DU Duck Den Booth in Exhibit Hall A.

“Despite over 100 episodes, Cason and I have never recorded in the same room together, nor have we been live. It will be a new experience for us, but we are really honored DU asked us to come over and record,” Birch said.

This special episode is slated to feature several guests; as of Wednesday, Birch said, they planned to have John Stephens, RNT Calls owner; Adam Campbell, founder of Hillside Kennels; Radcliffe Menge, founder of the Tom Beckbe gear brand; and representatives from Purina.

“And from Ducks Unlimited, CEO Adam Putnam, (chief fundraiser) David Schuessler and from the science side, Dr. Jerad Henson,” Birch said.

The podcast will start recording on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. Expo attendees will be able to watch them record the show live; those unable to attend can livestream the episode from Ducks Unlimited’s YouTube TV channel.

“The booth is right in the middle of the Expo, where several of the other big brands will be set up,” Birch said. “They will be livestreaming all day with other podcasts they support as well.”

The DU Expo starts Friday, Aug. 1, and continues through Sunday, Aug. 3, at Memphis’ Renasant Convention Center. Seminars on relevant topics are scheduled throughout the weekend, and brands Polaris and Chêne Gear will hand out door prizes to attendees.

“We’ve got a great group of guests lined up that should be entertaining and informative just like the regular shows,” Birch said.

The live episode of the Standard Sportsman will go live on the standardsportsman.com on Aug. 7 per its usual schedule. Learn more about the DU Expo in Memphis at duckexpo.com or @ducksunlimitedinc on social media.
