The inaugural Arkansas Duck Derby begins Thursday in Conway, kicking off with the Arkansas Duck Derby Community Banquet.

The banquet and hunt benefit men’s health programs and the guest house at Conway Regional Hospital.

Area landowners within an hour radius of Conway donated land for the hunt. A lottery drawing to determine where each team will hunt among the 25 separate locations will be held the night of the banquet.

The competition will be based on a point system that will award a designated number of points for various species of ducks. Teams will turn in their ducks at a designated time the day of the hunt. The winning team will be announced at a luncheon the day of the hunt and will receive a premium prize package that will also be shared with the landowner who provided land for the winning hunt.

Teams are full for the inaugural event, but tickets remain for the Arkansas Duck Derby Community Banquet. The event includes dinner, silent and live auctions and a raffle of items that include a 2019 Polaris Ranger, an Octa-timber boat and steel EZ Trac trailer.

Banquet tickets are $40. Raffle tickets — only 500 are available — cost $100 each.

Doors open at 5 p.m. at The Spiritan Center, St. Joseph Church, 2115 College Ave.
