Number of days you hunt a season: 15-20
Where do you hunt? Humnoke-Stuttgart-Wabbaseka
Club name: Oak Wing Meadow
What kind of gun do you use? Browning A5 or an older Stoeger 2000
Favorite duck call? I’m actually not a good caller, so one that someone else is calling with.
Preferred wader: camo or solids? Banded — Camo
Favorite meal after a hunt? There is probably not a better cook than my brother Gary. He cooks an amazing breakfast after our hunts.
What’s your go-to duck hunting story? Too many to count. Hunting with my son, brother and friend Terry McFarland at Lost Island the last several years has been a treat. The Carters grew up near my grandparents, mother and uncles, so being able to hear old stories is as great as the duck hunting there.
What got you into duck hunting? Hunting with family and friends was a huge part of my childhood. My grandfather O.W. Milligan was always willing to let me go hunting with him. I can remember at the age of 4 or 5, him carrying me on his back from the boat to the blind because the water would have been over my waders.

What is your most unusual “must have” in the duck blind? Ziplock bags to keep things dry that need to stay dry. I’ve been known to fall in the water while hunting, so I need those to keep important stuff dry.
What stage of the hunter are you? Method (The process of hunting becomes the focus. May still want to limit out but places a higher priority on how it’s accomplished.)
What’s your favorite memory of hunting with your children? All three of my children have hunted with me. The girls, not as much as they got married. My favorite memory was when Drew was 8 or 9 and we were hunting with Drew Hickonbotham and Mark Smith at Warrior. A group of mallards landed at our knees in the flooded timber at daybreak, and the look of amazement on my Drew’s face is one I’ll never forget.
Why do you duck hunt? I love the social aspect of it. The time spent with friends and family, especially my son Drew and older brother Gary. Sunrises in the Delta or on the Grand Prairie are an incredible gift from God each time I get to witness one.
Which Arkansas executive calls ducks the best? Cory Rowe, CEO, Chicot Irrigation or Austin Booth, CEO, Banded
